Shin Chiu is a

Shin is concerned with the thoughtful and efficient use of building materials – building with renewable and recycled resources, designing for disassembly, and optimizing form with the inherent characteristics of each material.
At WORKSHOP, Shin has been involved in a range of building types, including childcare additions, tower retrofits, and most recently, the renovation of a medical office building into affordable housing units. She strives to create delightful spaces with simple interventions.

Shin has
taught design studio at Toronto Metropolitan University and is a frequent guest
critic at various schools, including University of Toronto, University of
Waterloo, and Syracuse University.
Prior to joining the studio in 2021, Shin worked at
Superkül and LGA Architectural Partners in Toronto, Neri&Hu in Shanghai, and Allied Works Architecture in New York.
She received her Master of Architecture from Princeton University in 2020 where she was awarded the Suzanne Kolarik Underwood Prize for her graduate thesis.
